The farm Celebratio, situated between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp in the Little Karoo, offers self catering accommodation on a working pomegranate farm. The farm is also a popular venue for music concerts.
Celebratio farm is owned by a third-generation Meyer who refused to take “no” for an answer when experts said the land was not suitable for the cultivation of any crops. Today Celebratio successfully grows and exports pomegranates.
Pomegranates, regarded as a superfruit by dieticians because of its healing qualities, offer multiple health benefits, ranging from cancer prevention to memory enhancement.
Gerhard Meyer's cherished childhood memories on the farm sparked him to create guest cottages on Celebratio and to restore the manor house to enable families to experience farm life and the unique starlit nights of the Little Karoo...
Accommodation at Celebratio
Mannie & Marie (Old farmhouse)
The old farmhouse has been beautifully restored providing spacious accommodation for a group of friends or family. It sleeps 8 guests in three en-suite bedrooms: one with a king-sized bed, the other a queen-sized and the third four ¾ beds.
The kitchen still boasts the original coal stove, although a gas stove has been installed for guests' convenience. It has an open plan living area, undercover stoep area with dining room table and lounges at the braai.
The patio (stoep) overlooks a pool and is perfect for watching the sun set over the pomegranate orchard…or light a fire and enjoy a perfect braai or outside dinner with friends.
DSTV is available at an additional charge and must be booked prior to your arrival.
Sias and Lilly Cottages
These 2 cottages are situated next to each other. Each sleeps 4 guests and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (of which one is en-suite). There’s also a separate guest toilet.
Bedroom one (en-suite) has a queen-sized bed while bedroom 2 has two ¾ beds. They have open plan living areas and kitchens containing all the essentials including a stove, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.
DSTV is available at an additional charge and must be booked prior to your arrival. The units have a private braai area and utensils are provided.
The cottages overlook the swimming pool and the old farmhouse.
Group Accommodation/Dorms
We can provide group accommodation (dormitory style) for up to 100 people in 7 dormitory-styled bedrooms. Each building has sufficient and clean bathrooms catering for males and females. Adjacent to the dormitories you'll find a large dining room and an industrial kitchen. There’s also an outside braai area.
Celebratio Products
Karoo Wonderful Pomegranate juice is made from the arils of the fruit only. It is "squeezed and freezed" on the farm and contains no bottling agents or preservatives. We don't add any water or sugar and it is not made from concentrates. Once defrosted, the juice will last 5 - 7 days in a fridge before natural fermentation starts. The juice is sold frozen and can last up to two years in a freezer.
Karoo Pomegranate Rouge is a dessert drink made from single cultivar Wonderful pomegranates grown in the Karoo. The ruby-like arils are extracted and cold-pressed before the juice is sent down the road to the award-winning wine cellar De Krans where this unique drink is crafted to perfection.A perfect companion for cheese, dessert or snack platters or serve well chilled on crushed ice as a sundowner. Contains the juice of between 5 - 7 pomegranates.
