Swellendam connects the Overberg with the Garden Route and is an attractive town with the Koornlands River running through it. The 250ha indigenous forest at Grootvadersbosch is the most noteworthy in the South Western Cape. Woods like these are a rare find in the Cape province, so far West of the Knysna forests.
